Student tweeted a picture of police blocking a street on the Texas State University campus.
Parts of Texas State University in San Marcos is being evacuated after a bomb threat at the admissions building Thursday morning.
According to the school's website the evacuation area now includes The Tower and San Jacinto Hall on the university's campus.
Everyone has been told to stay away from the area.
The Austin American-Statesman reported a bomb squad from Austin was en route to the university and that the threat came via email at 7:20 a.m. Thursday and was forwarded to campus police by 8:50 a.m. Campus police are working with the FBI.
In an update at 10:52 a.m. the university's website said classes were being held as scheduled.
Some students confirmed to NBCDFW via Twitter that classes had not been canceled, while another student reported his professor released his class.
Students sent in photos of a road blocked off by police on the campus and red LED signs scrolling the message of a bomb threat on campus.
The university sent out an alert to mobile subscribers urging people to stay away from the admissions building.
Texas State journalism professor Dr. Ray Niekamp told NBC 5 the university sent alerts to computers on the campus Internet network as well.
