Two people opened fire on a Kaufman County employee near the county courthouse Thursday morning, police say.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was transported to a nearby hospital in an unknown condition.
No arrests have been reported in connection with the shooting. Police, however, said they are looking for a two men wearing all black, one of them possibly wearing a tactical-type vest, driving an older, silver Ford Taurus.
Police taped off an area at the Kaufman County Tax Office drive-thru parking lot 2-3 blocks from the courthouse. About a half hour after the shooting was first reported, officers were seen expanding the taped off area to include two city blocks.
Tonya Radcliffe, a board member on the Kaufman County Appraisal District, whose office is near the Tax Office drive-thru, said a staff member heard gunshots and called police.
There has been some confusion over the lockdown status of the Kaufman County Courthouse, but it is locked down. Additionally, all seven campuses in the Kaufman Independent School District are locked down as a precaution.
