Vice President Joe Biden is addressing gun violence at a forum in Connecticut.
Vice President Joe Biden will speak at a conference on gun violence Thursday in Danbury, Conn.
Connecticut Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy and U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty are hosting the conference at Western Connecticut State University.
Biden will talk about the Dec. 14 tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School that has prompted a national debate over gun control.
There are also panel discussions on reducing gun violence, protecting children and making communities safer.

The parents of Grace McDonnell, a 7-year-old girl killed in the school shooting, are attending and participating on the gun violence panel. Mental health experts, faith leaders and other victims' family members are also attending.
Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy was set to make a big announcement about his own proposals at the forum.
In a release Thursday, he proposed strengthening gun laws in five areas to make background checks universal and comprehensive, ban large-capacity magazines, strengthen the state's existing assault weapons ban, promote safer gun storage and improve existing law enforcement.
