A wild ride for a couple of suspected burglars in Dallas sent two people to the hospital early Thursday morning.
Dallas police officers say two men rammed into a squad car outside of a 7-Eleven at Good Latimer Expressway and Elm Street, then hit an off-duty firefighter head-on at Cadiz Street and Akard Street in Downtown.
Police say the two men had been trying to steal some belongings out of a Jeep in the 7-Eleven parking lot then tried to make a get-away.
A Dallas Police squad car on patrol had been in the intersection, when the suspects ran a red light and plowed into the cruiser. The impact of the crash didn't hurt the officers, but it did wreck the vehicle to the point that the officers couldn't chase after the suspects.
The officers notified police in the area to look out for a mid-1970's Chevy El Camino.
Just minutes later, a 911 call came in that the same car had been driving down the wrong way on Cadiz and hit an SUV head-on.
The serious crash injured the driver of the SUV, an off-duty Dallas firefighter. Emergency crews say she possibly has some broken bones and minor injuries.
The passenger of the El Camino wasn't responsive and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition following the crash.
The driver of the El Camino took off running, but police quickly tracked him down and arrested him.
Police have not yet released the name of the suspects or what charges they'll be facing.
