Homicide detectives are investigating a possible murder in a south Fort Worth apartment complex.
Fort Worth police say a woman is dead after being shot by the father of her child.
Officers arrived to the Prima Vera Apartments at 2201 East Berry St. in Fort Worth around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday night to find a deceased black female in the courtyard. The woman suffered an apparent gunshot wound.
Police also found a man they have identified as Raheem Smith in the courtyard with an apparent gunshot wound. Smith was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive.
Investigators say they believe Smith confronted the victim in the apartment's courtyard area, shot the woman, and then shot himself. Authorities have obtained an arrest warrent for Smith with a murder charge.
Police say the deceased woman and Smith had a child together. The deceased woman's name has not yet been released.
